INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY OF ESTABLISHMENT

Generally, Digital Management and Development Centre (DMDC) or formerly known as Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CICT), is the central responsible for planning and implementing ICT programs for Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). DMDC has been established on the primary objective in support of the use of ICT to implement all academic functions and university administration.

UniMAP is an organization that is based on research and education. To achieve these goals, various infrastructure has been established. This includes the use of computers and their applications as a whole. The use and application of computers used by the DMDC are meeting the current and original, while also stressing the DMDC to approach shaped open source for every level of use.

Since the first set of end-2002, the DMDC has moved structured and planned measures and has now grown rapidly. started of only 4 people and professional support staff, are now a source of strength human has evolved with a total of 60 staffs in the year 2021. Increased human resource obvious is to accommodate demand organizations on the use of information technology at the university level. In the process of improvement and development, all the challenges and laborious they provide the technology is a great experience.

2007 was a very significant year for the DMDC for this year. DMDC has boosted its capacity to meet the maximum level development needs of the University with the implementation of strategic projects as well as changes in administrative management.

RECOGNITION AND EXCELLENCE

The ability to compete at the national level with distinction was evident when one of the products developed in-house by DMDC staff called K-Attendance System won a silver badged in Research and Exhibition Development of Higher Education Institutions (Public) 2005 in which more than 300 products from all over universities competed.

Recognition from the government of the AirAsia Malaysia Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit, Malaysia (ABLE) is also remarkable as Repository through nomination by the University System of Integrated ICT Centre has found place merit and has been shortlisted for the finals for Award Nominations Premier, Public Sector in 2005.

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Management and Development Centre (DMDC) or formerly known as Information and Communication Technology Centre (CICT) is responsible for planning and provision of central ICT services in University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and facilitating the delivery of ICT services across the University’s Campus. DMDC UniMAP has been established to support the use of ICT in the academic and administrative functions of the university. Its main roles are:

Provide infrastructures and facilities to support teaching, learning, research and administration.
Develop and maintain a computerized information system in University.
Develop and maintain a campus communication network system.
Maintaining and repairing the computer equipment and printers.
To provide consultancy services in the field of information and communication technology.
Perform other tasks as directed by the University Authorities.
Help inculcate the use of information technology at the University.
